Kitchen, counter, and everything after.
Public & products liability that reflects a full service on a Saturday night, stock cover that accounts for spoilage, and cover for delivery riders on the road, placed by a broker who’s covered food businesses before.

No two businesses are the same, so we start with yours rather than with a template.
Everything
quoted together.
The premises, your liability, your stock and the trade you would lose, priced in one go rather than piece by piece.
Know your cover
What is restaurant & takeaway insurance?
Whether it’s table service, a takeaway counter or a delivery-only kitchen, food businesses share a common risk: customers eating what you prepare, and the kitchen equipment that makes it possible. Cover is built around that, not treated as a single generic hospitality risk.
Protects your customers
A customer made ill by food served, or injured on the premises. Public & products liability is what your landlord and landlord’s insurer will ask to see.
Protects your staff
Employers’ liability is required by law the moment you take on staff, whether kitchen, front of house or delivery.
Protects your kitchen
Equipment breakdown and stock spoilage cover for the fridges, freezers and cooking equipment your business depends on.

What we cover
Cover built around your kitchen.
We get to know how you trade first, then build the policy around it.
Public & products liability
A diner injured on the premises, or made ill by something you served. The cover your lease will usually require you to hold.
Employers’ liability
Required by law the moment you take on staff, kitchen and front of house alike.
Premises & contents
The building, the fit-out and kitchen equipment. The sum insured set to your reinstatement value, subject to insurer terms.
Stock
Including fridge and freezer breakdown spoilage.
Business interruption
The takings while you’re shut, not just the cost of repairs.
Goods in transit
Deliveries on the move, whether that’s your own riders or a courier partner.
Money & personal accident
Cash on the premises or in transit, and cover for you and your staff.
Legal expenses
Employment disputes, food-hygiene matters and the cost of defending a claim.
Cyber & data
Card data, the booking and till systems, and the takings lost when they go down in peak trade.
Who this cover tends to suit.
This cover is generally bought by food businesses. It brings together public & products liability, employers’ liability (where staff are used) and cover for premises, stock and deliveries. It won’t suit every business. Venues where drink sales outweigh food, and multi-site restaurant groups, are usually a different fit. If your risk profile is different, tell us and we’ll pick it up when we speak.
Worth knowing
Check the details before you choose.
Drink-led venues
Drink outweighing food is usually a different risk.
Dark kitchens
Delivery-only operates as its own category.
Delivery riders
Your own fleet needs its own motor policy.
Multi-site groups
Same ownership, same renewal. Usually one policy.
Every kitchen has its own risks.
A sit-down restaurant and a delivery-only kitchen don’t carry the same risk, so we ask different questions for each.

Why Vara
Bespoke service for you & your business,
without the big-firm minimum.
01
Kitchen equipment, before we quote
Kitchen equipment, food hygiene, delivery risk. We know what moves a food business’s premium and what doesn’t.
02
Cover that reflects how you serve
A table-service restaurant and a delivery-only kitchen carry different risk. We build the policy around your actual format, not a generic hospitality template.
03
Staff cover that holds up
Kitchen staff, front of house, delivery riders. Different roles, different risk. We set employers’ liability up properly across all of them.
04
We present the risk right
Cuisine type, delivery model, opening hours. How it’s presented to insurers changes what you pay. We know how to frame it.
You talk to a person. The machines do the typing.
Free review of your restaurant & takeaway cover and costs.
Told your format’s too unusual to place easily? Leave your details and we’ll call you straight back. Not for us.
What the review covers
We go through the policy you have now, so you can see what it does and doesn’t cover against the risk of a full service, stock spoilage in the fridges and freezers, and delivery riders on the road.
We point out the terms that catch food businesses out most often, drink-led venue classification and dark-kitchen cover among them, so you can check yours.
We approach insurers on our panel who write hospitality, and come back with what they’ll offer.
We explain each option in plain English, including what it doesn’t cover.
If it’s not a risk we can place, we’ll tell you straight away rather than leave you waiting.
No obligation to switch. You decide what fits.
